Pisces Lunar Eclipse, Who Dis?

Pisces Lunar Eclipse, Who Dis?

The imagery that came to mind for this lunation is a seashell or clamshell phone in the

hands of a mermaid.  It’s a new phone and she’s wondering who could possibly have the

number and be calling her.  She doesn’t normally answer and her voicemail box is always

full so you can’t leave a message.

Messages written in sand below the line of surf might be washed away before the thought

is completed.

This must be a slippery one for me due to my South Node in Pisces.  I have Aries Rising,

making Pisces my 12th house in the whole sign house system.  I can’t remember where

exactly the 12th house begins in my chart in the Placidus house system, but that

South Node is a late degree, so I think it’s in there, the 12th house.

A misty light rain falls outside, and I’ve been melancholy since yesterday (Friday).

At some point today, we transition from Leo season to Virgo season.  The Lion passes

his baton to the Virgin Accountant.  She’s ready to see the harvest’s yield, all counted,

labeled, and stored properly.

Meanwhile, on Thursday the 27th of August, the Siren will answer her new seashell phone,

“Who Dis?”  And the caller will have forgotten.  They don’t know why they’re calling,

they don’t know who they are, maybe it’s because their pet hermit crab isn’t doing well?

Yeah.  This one feels weird already folks.

Happy Full Moon in Aquarius! Electric!

I like these little lunation posts I make to point you towards my Substack.  It's giving me the opportunity to share my love of symbolic imagery and astrology.  For my blog image this time around, I borrowed the Bride of Frankenstein idea from a Meg Moonbeam thumbnail over on youtube.  I imagined the Bride lovingly packing a picnic for her friend the tired Lion to enjoy under a summer night sky. For me in the Pacific time zone, the moon will be full at around 7:30am on July 29th.  As I write this on the morning of 7/28, the moon is in the last degrees of Capricorn.  I'm anticipating something with this upcoming moon moving through Aquarius because that transit has been pinging some of my natal chart placements lately.

Something that has been exciting and electric for me recently is my new series over on my Substack.  I've started a Solo RPG video series set in the Ravenloft Domains of Dread implementing the Shadowdark and Solodark rules.  The first two episodes comprise a sort of "Solo Session Zero" and the third and most recently released episode is "Session 1".  I can hardly wait to produce "Session 2" to find out what happens next!

Happy Full Moon in Capricorn! Keep Climbing!

The Second Tarokka Card Reading

Have you ever gone on a hike or worked with a Capricorn? I grew up around several of the

Sea Goats, so I’ve had time to observe their incredible drive. One of my players is a

Sun‑in‑Capricorn person. We didn’t game on Sunday night like we usually do, because the

Sea Goat had work to do.

With today’s full Moon in Capricorn shining a spotlight on work, responsibility, and the long

climb, it feels pretty on‑theme that real‑life obligations took precedence over fantasy

adventure. So, no actual play for the Ox Gives Way to Tiger campaign today. In

side‑campaign news, the intermittent Ctyři Čtvrt Chronicles will resume soon; it’s only been

a short hiatus while the player and I ran a five‑session playtest of a different setting and

system. Another cool development in our gaming: my Ctyři Čtvrt player is running a 1‑on‑1

LotFP game for me!

Interested in more Ravenloft content? I wrote an article over on Substack explaining how I

used the supplement The Second Tarokka Card Reading to bridge my Curse of Strahd

campaign arc toward a wider Domains of Dread arc. Fun stuff!

Now back to work; keep climbing!

Sagittarius Full Moon Is Over, Now What?

Feed Cat, Carry Wood, Then Roll Dice

"Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water."

-Zen Proverb

"Before DMing, chop wood, carry water.  After DMing, chop wood, carry water."

-DM Bast Proverb

The Zen version reached my awareness when I was just a shaver... now as a more grizzled version of myself I have adapted it.  So what am I trying to express to you today?  Everyday life happens before and after the game, and it is even happening while the game is being played by you.  And sometimes it intrudes on the magical and liminal space you created within the ritual of the weekly game.

So one of us in the group celebrated a birthday (Happy Belated B-day to you, player of the Mighty Tim!), one of us got sick (me), and now that I am physically recovered I get to go back to handling the wood (get your mind out of wherever it is, lol;).  I'm not the chopper, but I do cart it around and stack it to great effect!

The main campaign should resume this Sunday, barring any unforeseen circumstances.  I think the party's intention was to travel to Borca to locate a Vorpal Sword.

Summer this year might have fewer sessions of the main campaign on deck.  The time for real life adventures is bubbling up.  Thank you for your continued readership.

Have you caught up on my Substack, yet?  It is where I post the actual play reports for my solo game(s) and the Year of the Goat Campaign.
