Shuyr Rilla's Completed Exorcism

 

Session 5- Sour Spring Hollow Exorcism

3/1/26

• Boy and his team kill the 2 remaining Earth Hounds in the burial 

  ground just as 6 Hobbs Phantoms viciously attack.  Beavis finds 

  himself standing on the grave marked by sigil and not receiving 

  attacks.  He points out 1 of the cabins has the same sigil on its 

  door.  Boy instructs the team to run towards after they fight and 

  kill the 2nd wave of 3 Hobbs Phantoms.  

  Tarp and Kevin are struck down and revived during that wave.

• At Oza’s cabin they catch a breather and pick up useful items. 

  They also find corn husk dolls that resemble Tarp and Kevin.  

  They pick those up, too.

• Boy instructs them to run towards Burel’s cabin, where they 

  discover a loft with childish illustrations showing the fate of 

  Shuyr Rilla, a cleric of the Sovereign who tried to clear out the 

  Hobbs witches and was killed.

• The 3rd cabin holds a spellbook called the Wayward Companion.

• The 4th cabin is a Gardinel that eats Beavis.  Krishka collects 

  the doll on the well rim of Beavis.

• They clear the Deadfall in the well and recover Shuyr Rilla’s 

  silver Holy Symbol of the Sovereign.

• They start walking up the corn terrace towards the scarecrow, 

  who they have guessed is the corpse of Shuyr Rilla.

• The Corn Dolls begin attacking those who picked them up.  

  Kevin is killed by a Corn Doll as Boy places the Holy Symbol 

  in the scarecrow’s hand.  More Hobbs Phantoms make a last 

  stand, but Boy and his team are successful against them.

• A storm begins and washes away the corn, cabins, and 

  Hobbs Phantoms.

• 3 Earth Hounds killed = 30 XP

• 18 Hobbs Phantoms killed = 180 XP

• 2 Corn Husk Dolls killed = 20 XP

Session 4- Sour Spring Hollow Wedding

2/8/26

• We play Lamentations of the Flame Princess, but since this is a DCC 

  adventure from the The Chained Coffin book I had the player role 

  Luck scores for Boy (29) and Ciba (16).

• Boy sets the late winter schedule for the Hendershot Ranch before 

  attending Cousin Dode’s cousin’s wedding.

• Boy, Ciba, Kevin, Anders, Tarp, Beavis, and Krishka travel to 

  Sour Spring Hollow to attend the wedding of Ivy Newscombe to 

  Tum Dankers.

• A lovely day for a lovely wedding leads to a raucous reception as 

  Jam Ranson and his 3 sons reel out song after song.  Jugs of 

  moonshine and stump whiskey make their rounds and the last 

  clear thought of Boy and Co was taking a swig of potent liquor 

  from an odd-colored jug.

• They awaken in the grass, the clearing silent.  Deep woods 

  surround the clearing on three sides and a hillside holding 

  terraced plots of dried, dusty corn rises up west.  Four ramshackle 

  log cabins occupy the clearing.

• Boy leads the team into the burial ground and they encounter 

  3 Earth Hounds and get in a fight.  They kill 1 and I end the session 

  in the middle of combat.

Session 3- Death Among the Pines, Conclusion

5/31/25

• Boy and his party find the entrance to the Serpent-men Fane.

• 8 out of 10 Thundercrack Boys are poisoned and don’t make their 

  saves.

• Tarp is briefly possessed by the ghost of Pansy, and the party learn 

  that her death wasn’t an accident.  She had been killed by her 

  husband after he had been corrupted by dark forces.  She wants 

  her remains interred at the Sovereign Temple graveyard.

• Boy asks Adelaide to use 6 of her 10 healing scrolls to help 6 of 

  the 8 Thundercrack Boys.

• Boy’s team enters the Serpent-men Fane in time to see that 

  Braar Obray and Chase Mashburn are poised to sacrifice Trill and 

  Nollie.

• Boy shoots his compound bow at Braar Obray, but misses.

• 5 additional Serpent-men appear from behind columns and a battle 

  between Boy’s team and the Serpent-men plays out.

• Chase Mashburn escapes with Baby Nollie.

• Boy’s team kill Braar Obray and the 5 Serpent-men, then they release 

  Trill and pursue Chase through the tunnel he escaped through.

• The team spot Chase in a cave that opens to the surface.  The team 

  splits.  The Thundercrack Boys run after Chase and the rest of the 

  team kill 12 Rattlesnakes in the cave.

• Trill is relieved to have her Baby Nollie safe back in her arms.  She’s 

  grateful, but asks Boy’s team one more favor.  Can they save the 

  villagers who had been turned into human headed snake 

  monstrosities that are trapped in a pit in the fane?

• Boy asks Adelelaide if she is capable of that kind of magic.  She isn’t 

  powerful enough on her own, but for a 100 GP donation to her temple 

  in Thundercrack, she can bring enough Scrolls of Remove Curse back 

  to Holler Hollow to help the poor wretches.

• When Adelaide returns and the villagers are saved, Boy and Adelaide 

  lead the town in cleaning up and reconsecrating the Temple of the 

  Sovereign.  Boy gives a speech to warn the villagers to remain vigilant 

  and not allow evil to erupt here again.

• Pansy’s remains are interred.  Her soul can now rest.

• The Thundercrack Boys and Adelaide return to their town; Boy and his 

  team return to Star Notch and the Hendershot Farm.

• A wedding invitation has arrived at the farm.  All on the farm are 

  welcome to attend Cousin Dode’s cousin’s wedding in Sour Spring 

  Hollow.

• Braar Obray, Serpent-men killed = 10 XP

• Chase Mashburn, Serpent-men = 10 XP

• 5 Serpent-men killed = 50 XP

• 12 Rattlesnakes killed = 900 XP

• 3 Garnet Candlesticks, 50 GP each = 150 XP

Boy Vs. Braar Obray

 

 

Session 2- Death Among the Pines

10/25/24

• Krishka, Kevin, Anders, Beavis, and Tarp (all former wererats) arrive 

  from Dwimmermount to live and work at the Hendershot Farm.

• Boy asks Dode to come watch Hendershot Farm while Boy, Ciba, and 

  the former wererats go to check out the rumors of ghosts, serpent-men, 

  and kidnapping in the Thundercrack and Holler Hollow areas.

• Meet Chase Mashburn, his wife Trill, and baby daughter Nollie.  Also 

  meet Braar Obray.

• Trill brings up the legend of Pansy, an alleged ghost near the mill.

• Next day, Trill shows the way to the mill for Boy and Co.

• Boy and Co fight 4 Rattlesnakes on the main floor.

• Team finds a 2 string guitar in the storage area.

• In a room in the mill’s cellar, the Boy’s Team encounter 5 Serpent-men 

  disguised as captured children; only Boy and Krishka escape, they 

  retreat to the Mashburn cabin.

• At the Mashburn cabin Boy, Krishka, Trill, and Nollie are abducted by 

  Chase Mashburn and Braar Obray.  Boy again escapes the mill and 

  retreats to Thundercrack to gather help from his contact there, the 

  blacksmith.

• Boy hires the Cleric Adelaide from Thundercrack’s Temple of the 

  Sovereign.  

  They then receive the aid of 10 local farm men.

• Boy and Adelaide discover Pansy’s Bones under the mill.

• Fight and kill 6 Serpent-men in the Serpent-men Fane.

• Former wererats released.

• 4 Rattlesnakes killed = 300 XP

• 6 Serpent-men killed = 60 XP

• Total XP for Boy 360 XP

Dode's Barn Catches Fire from Fireflies

 

 

 

Session 1- Moon Eyes and Fire Flies

11/23 or 12/23

• Boy sends Moonshine to the following locations:

  +The Moody Mermaid

  +Ctyri Ctvrt

  +The Golden Barge 

• Hank’s Cousin Dode over by Standing Stone Hollow gets a 

  moonshine delivery from Boy and Co.

• A swarm of fire flies nearly burns Dode’s house and barn down, 

  but Boy and Co put the fire out with well water bucket brigade.

• Boy investigates what could be behind the swarm of fire flies 

  which leads him to an ancient Hsaalian Mine.  The entrance 

  of the mine is cleared and shows small humanoid footprints 

  coming and going.

• He first fights a badger, then Sharda the Black Bear.

• He liberates Ciba (a human woman with black hair, bronze skin, 

  and dark brown eyes) from her stasis chamber.  He brings her 

  along, equipping her with an extra weapon of his.

• They fight some Lightning Bats.

• They fight some Ancient Zombies and Dode is turned into one.

• Boy finds the Moon Eyed Ones and parlays with them to find an 

  accommodation for Dode and his farm which includes putting 

  certain stone configurations sacred to the Moon Eyes back into place.

• Boy donates 10 GP to the Sovereign Temple in Star Notch to have 

  Dode returned to regular life.

• Boy and Ciba return to Hendershot Farm

• Swarm of Fire Flies killed = 25 XP

• Badger killed = 25 XP

• Sharda the Black Bear killed = 50 XP

• 4 Lightning Bats killed = 40 XP

• 3 Ancient Zombies killed = 150 XP
