Aura the Owl Doll |
Session 156- A Return to Barovia Part 7
12/22/2024
While Rams are standing in the Burgomaster’s Den, they hear the faint
sounds of what might be a women’s afternoon tea party across the
hallway from the den.
After a few minutes the Burgomaster Vargas Vallakovich arrives flanked
by his large mastiff dogs.
Vallakovich thanks Rams for their assistance to the Town Guard
defeating the vampires.
Tim casts ESP to determine Vallakovich’s motivations for the near
constant festivals. He learned the following:
Vallakovich believes in the power of positivity to overcome evil.
The festivals are his sad attempt to cheer the village and keep
them safe. His own happiness is a veneer.
He is out of his mind with worry about 2 of his household staff
vanishing, the butler and his wife’s lady in waiting.
Vallakovich is grateful that Izek Strazni is loyal to him,
because otherwise he would be terrified of him.
Vallakovich charged Izek with investigating the servants’
disappearances, but investigation isn’t his forte.
Vallakovich invites Rams to be his and his wife’s personal guests at
the Festival of the Blazing Sun that will occur the following evening.
Rams learn a little more about Izek Strazni’s background and find out
he was orphaned after a dire wolf attacked him and his family.
Vallakovich eventually hired Izek to work as his bodyguard.
Rams leave the Burgomaster’s Mansion and visit Blinsky to see if Izek
has been back. Blinsky hasn’t seen him much to his relief. He has
completed the Aura the Owl doll. He confirms some details on the
drawings he has made for the other dolls.
Rams visit the Wachterhaus. Lady Fiona’s agent Ernst Larnak
entertains them while they wait for the Lady’s book club meeting to
conclude.
Tim casts ESP on Lady Fiona. He learned the following:
Lady Fiona had a daughter named Stella who went crazy and
thinks she is a cat.
Stella used to be married to the Burgomaster’s son
Victor Vallakovich. Lady Fiona thinks he drove Stella crazy.
Lady Fiona doesn’t accept that Strahd is completely dead and
gone. He has always returned.
She doesn’t attend Vallakovich’s festivals. She thinks he is a
fool.
Rams return to the Blue Water Inn to a party being thrown in their
honor for being so instrumental in stemming the Vampire attack’s
rampage before many civilians were involved. Rams note that no one
from Vallakovich’s household is in attendance. Neither is Lady Fiona,
but her sons are there.
Urwin Martikov pulls Tim and Fecus into the kitchen to ask for their
assistance with his wine supply problem. They agree to look into it
before returning to the party and meeting a strange Vistani woman.
