Session 30.5- On to the Spider Ranch

1/4/2026

  • Telefe meets Danika and Co in Gared’s bar.  She gives a deeper 

    explanation of Nattias’ kidnapping and location where he is 

    imprisoned.

  • The Spire of Iron and Crystal is Nattias likely prison.  Gared passes 

    on rumors to Danika.  He says he’s known about the eerie place for 

    a while and believes it shouldn’t exist.

  • One urgent piece of info is that an invisible causeway that leads to 

    the Spire is only corporeal and usable 3 nights a year.  She 

    determined this through examining astrological alignments in 

    The Mother’s Eye constellation.

  • Telefe has had dreams where Nattias talks to her about the Spire 

    and his jailer, Iomnogoron.

  • Danika, Telefe, and Co make their way east to the Spider Ranch 

    where the lookout is sharp!

  • The Spider Ranch Kids have seen an increase in foot traffic heading 

    east, a big metallic noise travelling east, and strange lights flashing 

    to the east.

  • The kids have harvested 16 Vials of Black Widow Venom.  They 

    are formulating a strategy to gather Trapdoor Spider Venom.

Kraken and Leviathan

 

 

 

Session 209- A Return to Barovia Part 59; Lamordia 8

1/11/2026

  • As the Kraken navigates the sea channels between the Isles of Agony, 

    some of the party observes the cove that the God Brain was dredged 

    up from previously.  Those that aren’t using binoculars or scopes to 

    look towards the cove as they pass see a shadow under the ice floe, 

    3 times the length of the Kraken.

  • Fecus, Gugula, and Shelby are intruded on psychically by the 

    Leviathan, briefly blackout, and report stunningly real visions of 

    standing on the seafloor in a foreign body or cutting into frozen flesh.

  • Fecus fights his instinct to harpoon the Leviathan.  The hull trembles 

    as the creature swims off towards an iceberg.

  • The Leviathan tail slaps the iceberg, the effect causes a 

    blackhole/whirlpool that pulls the Kraken through it and the icebreaker 

    finds itself listing towards the dock at the foot of the cliffs that Schloss 

    Mordenheim stands upon.

  • A gangplank descends automatically from the dock.  The party 

    disembark and move towards a door in the cliff that the dock leads 

    towards.

  • Fecus sees a tall shape reflective in the ice at the far end of the dock.

  • Sounds dampens and the Kraken disappears as Rams enter the 

    door.

  • The alcove is empty.  When they enter the tunnel beyond it, they 

    encounter and fight a Gibbering Mouther.

  • 3 Flesh Golems appear after the Gibbering Mouther is killed, 

    ostensibly to clean up the mess of its carcass.  Fecus pats a 

    small Flesh Golem on the head and it reacts violently, while 

    the other 2 continue cleaning up the Gibbering Mouther mess.

  • The Flesh Golem body slams Fecus, hurting him significantly.  

    Fritigern and Gugula step in to help him defeat it.

  • Session #206 XP = 200 XP

  • Gibbering Mouther killed = 450 XP

  • Small Flesh Golem killed = 1800 XP

  • 600 PP = 6000 XP

Danika receives a message from Telefe.

  

 

 

Session 30- A Note from an Old Classmate

1/3/2026

  • A note from Telefe, Danika’s old classmate, arrives by pigeon.  

    It informs Danika that their mentor, Nattias, has gone missing.  

    Telefe suspects abduction.  Clues she’s dug up lead to a 

    strange Spire of Iron and Crystal to the east.  If Danika could 

    provide assistance, Telefe will meet her in either Bystrica or 

    Stary Bob.

  • In this session, Danika’s character concentrates on preparing 

    her party for a dangerous adventure.  She distributes 

    Health Potions to the party that Gary Falcon has made.  

    Gary also works on another scope for a x-bow.

  • Danika, Zora, Hachiro, Hallaberra, Hynek, Pholos, and Hurley 

    travel to Stary Bob and wait for Telefe at Gared’s bar and restaurant.  

    Danika orders and spends lavishly to gain some trust from Gared.

The Stainedwell Mortuary

 

 

 

Session 208- A Return to Barovia Part 58; Lamordia 7

1/4/2026

  • Arriving at the Stainedwell Mortuary, Rams find it curiously empty 

    of workers.  They explore the various rooms and find paperwork 

    indicating Savitch claimed Elise’s body when it was delivered here, 

    and he ran Divine Energy Tolerance tests that only her corpse was 

    apparently successful, again indicated by documentation found on 

    scene.  In the cold storage, they find the drawer that Elise’s body 

    was stored in and it contains a strange residue.  Fecus takes a 

    sample of that residue.

  • After investigating the mortuary, Rams visit the docks only to discover 

    that the icebreaker, Kraken, is pulling away from its berth.

  • Rams run and all make their jumps to the deck of the Kraken.  The 

    grizzled and drunk Captain Valgeir yells at them and alerts First Mate 

    Lisanne who calms the Captain down.  She informs Rams that 

    Dr. Savitch is also aboard.

  • The destination of the Kraken is Schloss Mordenheim.

  • Tim and Fecus visit the psychologically wrecked Savitch and they 

    only get strange blueprints off of him.  The blueprints illustrate the 

    transfiguration of the God Brain into Elise’s corpse.

  • The Captain reveals a little more about his prior expedition with 

    Dr. Savitch, where they had dredged the God Brain off of the 

    arctic ocean floor and transported it back to Ludendorf.

  • Fecus asks to participate in any whaling while on board.  

    Unfortunately they encounter no whales, but Lisanne is willing to 

    show him the equipment and how to use it.

Session 207- A Return to Barovia Part 57; Lamordia 6

Interlude at the Inn

Drasha, Ezmerelda, Fritigern, and Victor

You wake before dawn.

The inn is too quiet.

There is no wind at the windows. No clatter in the kitchen. No coughs or snores from the 

other rooms. The hearth still burns, but the fire gives no warmth.

Someone moves in the hallway.

Not footsteps. Not quite. A pressure—like weight passing through air. The floorboards do 

not creak. Doors open as it passes them, then close again on their own.

You smell cold iron. Wet stone. Ozone.

In a mirror behind the bar, you see it only because it does not belong there: a tall shape, 

too narrow, walking with purpose, its outline broken by drifting snow that has somehow 

found its way indoors.

No one looks at it.

The innkeeper pours a drink he does not remember preparing and sets it on the counter. 

A patron steps aside without turning their head.

The shape crosses the common room, ascends the stairs, and continues upward—toward 

a floor the inn does not have.

The fire brightens. Sound returns. Someone laughs, a little too loudly.

Outside, the snow has not been disturbed.

Whatever just passed through this place did not come for you.
It was simply passing through.


Savitch Residence — Investigation

Back at the residence of Dr. Savitch, Team Rams examine the Psycogs that attacked 

them.

  • Fecus disarms the Death Echo mechanism after he and Tim successfully make 

    their Save vs. Device rolls.

The room is in disarray. The walls are covered in numbers and symbols, undecipherable 

to Tim and Fecus.

  • Fecus copies the markings into a notebook (possibly to show their Engineer back 

    in Goblin Hill).

Second Floor — Study

They find a book containing:

  • Schematics for Psycogs

  • A screed on consciousness

  • An address: Stainedwell Mortuary

Before leaving, the party places several of their business cards on the parlor fireplace 

mantel.


The Inn — Thermal Wardens Arrive

Back at the inn, Thermal Wardens arrive looking for the group.

“By University authority, several of your associates have triggered a thermal 

anomaly. You will accompany us for clarification.”

The air grows warm.
Not comfortable warm—sealed warm. Like a room with no exits.

Somewhere nearby, metal groans. Steam vents with a sharp, surgical hiss.

Then the sound comes: a measured cadence of iron on stone.

Around the corner steps a figure taller than any man. Its body is layered in pale ceramic 

plates, cracked by glowing seams of orange light. Frost forms on the ground where its 

feet do not touch, and nearby snow melts in perfect circles.

Its halberd hums, heat rippling the air around the blade.

A voice issues from nowhere specific—flat, calm, utterly uninterested in your survival:

“Thermal anomaly confirmed.”
“Containment protocol active.”
“Remain stationary.”

The construct tilts its head slightly, as if listening to something far away.

“Noncompliance will be corrected.”

Ludendorf University

Containment & Applied Ethics Wing

Tim, Fecus, Gugula, and Shelby return to the inn. The reunited party is escorted by the 

Thermal Warden to Ludendorf University.

The door seals behind you with a soft hydraulic sigh.

The corridor beyond is immaculate: stone floors scored with brass channels, glass panels 

revealing machinery humming with restrained violence. The air smells faintly of antiseptic 

and ozone.

The Thermal Warden stops at a circular chamber. At its center stands a glass column filled 

with slowly rotating frost and light. A lectern slides out of the wall. Papers already rest upon 

it.

The construct speaks again:

“You are not detained.”
“You are contextualized.”


The Elise Dossier

Professor Stanley claims that the Follower from Neufurchtenburg passed through the inn 

and psychically wiped the minds of everyone present.

He believes the Follower is Mordenheim’s handiwork.  He decries Viktra Mordenheim as a 

known pariah and expellee of several colleges.

He allows the party to read THE ELISE DOSSIER:
A single page. Burned at the edges.

Flesh Golem — Autonomous Emotional Recursion

Does not reject divine energy

Observed by non-Lamordian intelligence

Handwritten at the bottom:

If the Mountain learns to digest her, nothing here will remain discrete.


Professor Stanley’s Assessment

He explains:

  • Savitch violated containment ethics

  • Elise is now a vector

  • The party has been observed interacting with Mordenheim’s Follower

This makes them part of the experiment.

“If you encounter Dr. Savitch,”
the professor says, not looking at them,
“observe carefully what he believes he is saving.”

They are released afterward.

Not absolved.
Not threatened.
Logged.

The party is issued a University Docket Number.

They decide to pursue the Stainedwell Mortuary lead and depart for its location.
