Session 175- A Return to Barovia Part 25

4/13/2025

• In the aftermath of the battle against Baba Lysaga, Tim casts Dig to 

  expedite the burial of Seraz.  The party heals up, eats some 

  sandwiches (Gugula loves herself a Dagwood), and then they ride 

  off to confront Baba Lysaga at the abandoned village of Berez.

• Entering the spooky abandoned village of Berez, they encounter 7 

  more Scarecrows that they fight and kill.  The Scarecrows had 

  Yevgeni, Szoldar, Gugula, Fecus, and Victor paralyzed for the first 

  part of the fight.

• Wandering to the western edge of the village, they find the monument 

  to Marina, another woman that died due to Strahd’s obesession.

• They haven’t seen either the Baba Lysaga or Mirielle, yet.

• Shelby casts Augury and decides they shouldn’t enter the decrepit 

  Ulrich mansion unnecessarily.

• They cross the river to watch the abandoned village from the standing 

  stones while they wait for the Baba Lysaga and Mirielle.

• 7 Scarecrows killed = 1400 XP

• Tim and Fecus each receive = 466 XP

• Gugula and Shelby each receive = 233 XP

Baba Lysaga's Flying Troll Skull

• The remaining adversaries are the Baba Lysaga, her Hut, 

  Swarms of Snakes, Swarms of Insects, 5 Scarecrows, 

  and 2 Barovian Witches.

• Baba Lysaga stays out of range for several rounds in her 

  flying troll skull.

• Shelby casts Heat Metal on the Baba Lysaga’s Hut.

• Tim ONE-SHOTS Fatima Lazarescu and Miruna Moonlake.

• Victor casts Blight and then later Animate Dead on 

  Miruna Moonlake.

• Tim and Fecus Teleport into the Baba Lysaga’s Hut.  

  Fecus punches through the floorboards and seizes the 

  Red Gem.

• Fecus and Tim jump out of the hut.

• The Hut launches rocks and Seraz is killed by a flying 

  boulder.

• Gugula is Paralyzed by a Scarecrow's Terrifying Gaze.

• Victor tries to follow Mirielle when she flies after the Baba 

  Lysaga.  The Baba Lysaga casts Dispel Magic on Victor, 

  making him fall to the ground when his Fly spell is dispelled.

• Shelby drinks a Potion of Gaseous Form and begins floating 

  after Baba Lysaga.

• Tim casts Dispel Magic on Gugula, releasing her from being 

  paralyzed by a Scarecrow.

• Tim casts Hold Person on Baba Lysaga and she makes her 

  saving throw.

• Shelby casts Silence on Baba Lysaga and she makes her 

  saving throw.

• The Baba Lysaga Polymorphs into a Swarm of Insects and 

  escapes.

• Mirielle pursues the Baba Lysaga on Tim and Fecus’ orders.

• 5 Scarecrow killed = 1000 XP

• 2 Barovian Witches killed = 200 XP

• 1 Swarm of Insects killed = 100 XP

Baba Lysaga's Hut

Session 173- A Return to Barovia Part 23

3/30/2025

• Shelby prepares herself for the dream intrusion with prayer and 

  meditation.

• In the dream, she gains lucidity in Baba Lysaga’s hut.  Looking 

  around she sees the simple furnishings all bolted to the floorboards.

• The middle of the hut has a large ugly baby crib, containing an 

  angelic, laughing baby.  Red light glows from underneath the 

  floorboards beneath the crib.

• Shelby notices the Baba Lysaga sitting on a stool, enraptured by 

  baby Strahd.

• Baba Lysaga notices Shelby’s dream presence, and the two 

  exchange taunts.  Shelby has a feeling that the baby is an illusion 

  and tells Baba Lysaga to quit playing with her illusions and come 

  find Rams to fight.

• Baba Lysaga shuts the Baby Strahd illusion down, and laughs as 

  the hut starts breaking its roots free to begin travelling.  At that point 

  Shelby wakes up from the dream and warns Tim and Fecus to be 

  ready for the Baba Lysaga to come.

• This triggers Rams to begin the Tiamat Effigy Ritual.

• Gugula and Yevgeni are the 2 fighters to stand guard for the Ritual.

• Partway through the Ritual, the Baba Lysaga comes zooming into 

  the Vineyard in her flying troll skull and she is quickly followed by 

  Barovian witches, scarecrows, and zombies.

• Gugula and Yevgeni hold off the first and second waves with weapon 

  and incendiary attacks, but the witches are using Ray of Sickness to 

  great effect on Yevgeni and Gugula.

• Fecus leaves the chanting of the ritual to assist Yevgeni.  He one-shots 

  the witch known as Nyanka Grejenko.

• The Tiamat Effigy Ritual is carried off successfully and the entity 

  released is a Young Amethyst Dragon, “Mirielle”.

• Mirielle has a telepathic link to Tim and Fecus and asks them to 

  indicate the targets she should go after.

• Mirielle uses her Singularity Breath Weapon to take out the Zombies.

• 2 more witches and 2 scarecrows are killed before the end of the 

  session; the battle will continue next session.

• 7 Zombies killed = 350 XP

• 3 Barovian Witches killed = 300 XP

• 2 Scarecrows killed = 400 XP

• Spellbooks of Nyanka Grejenko, Grilsha Zalenski, and Korina Strazni.

• Total XP = 1050 XP

• Tim and Fecus each receive 350 XP

• Gugula and Shelby each receive 175 XP

Tim As Black Dragon Vs. Scarecrows

Session 172- A Return to Barovia Part 22

• Rams collect themselves after defeating the Druids and their 

  followers; noises to the south of the inner stone circle concern 

  them.

• Peering to the south, they see a sickly copse surrounding a 

  large, misshapen tree oozing blood like sap from its trunk.  

  Needle Blights are visibly moving towards the party and further 

  focus reveals vine and twig blights as well.

• From the north a fresh group of 3 Druids returning from the woods, 

  expecting to see the conclusion of the Fallpall ritual, arrive having 

  found their retreating followers affected by Shelby’s Potion 

  of Human Control and dispeling the Potion’s effects.

• Rams must choose to either fight their way out to the South 

  (Blights and the Gulthias Tree) or the North (3 Druids and 

  4 Berserkers).

• Rams make the choice to fight the Druids and their remaining 

  followers.  They kill the Druids and followers as the Blights make

   their way towards the party.

• As they turn off the road onto the driveway of the Winery, they 

  hear a raven cawing desperately nearby, loud crashing in the 

  woods, and the raven cawing turns to a woman’s terrified shrieks.

• So close to rest, with the smell of a fresh farmhouse dinner 

  wafting on the breeze, Rams go to the edge of the woods to 

  investigate.  They discover 4 Scarecrows surrounding a nude 

  and badly injured Muriel Vinshaw.

• Tim immediately Polymorphs into a Black Dragon and rushes to 

  attack the Scarecrows.  The rest of Rams jump into the fray, saving 

  Muriel who had been on her way to warn the Winery of the impending 

  Scarecrow attack.

• Victor gives Muriel his cloak.  Shelby heals Muriel.

• After the fight during dinner at the Winery, Muriel tells Rams of the 

  increased activity near Baba Lysaga’s Hut in Berez.  The hut is 

  emitting a strong red glow and can walk around on its rootlike “legs”.

• During the last watch, the only uninjured new hireling, Seraz, spots 

  1 Druid and 4 Twig Blights sneaking around the yard of the Winery.  

  He wakes the party up, and they go kill that Druid and his Blights.

• Rams’ Magic-users (Tim, Victor, and Seraz) spend the day 

  back-engineering the Wintersplinter/Fallpall ritual.

• Fecus and Shelby direct the assembly of an effigy of Tiamat, similar 

  to the Druids’ effigy of Strahd, using wood debris, mud, and body parts 

  of Druids.

• Shelby sets the intention to invade the Baba Lysaga’s dreamspace 

  using the Purple Gem to focus her Oneiromachy.

• 4 Druids killed = 1800 XP

• 4 Twig Blights killed = 100 XP

• 4 Berserkers killed = 1800 XP

• 4 Scarecrows killed = 800 XP

• 4 1d6 Healing Potions

• Total XP = 4500 XP

• Tim and Fecus each receive 1500 XP

• Gugula and Shelby each receive 750 XP
